New Jewish cemetery (Cochem)
The New Jewish Cemetery Cochem is a cemetery in Cochem in the district of Cochem-Zell ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).
The Jewish cemetery is at Kelberger Strasse 21. There are 64 tombstones on it . The first burial in the cemetery took place in 1877, the last in 1942. In 1921 the cemetery was expanded.
During the period of National Socialism about 20 stones were destroyed. During desecrations in 1966 and 1995, other gravestones were destroyed; these have been partially replaced.
The older, predecessor cemetery, which was probably occupied from the 18th century to 1877, was located in the forest opposite the Reichsburg in the "Knippwiese" district.
