Former monastery Prüll with the monastery church St. Vitus below Neuprüll in district 13 of the city of Regensburg

Neuprüll is located in the southwest of the city of Regensburg, surrounded by the districts of Ziegetsdorf in the west, Kumpfmühl in the north, and the subdistrict University in the east, directly on the A3 motorway . Up until the settlement in the 19th century, there were only fields and meadows along the dirt road south of the Prüller Höhe on the former Neuprüller Weg. On the hill near Mörickestrasse there is a linden tree that has been preserved to this day .

history

Linden tree near Mörickestrasse in Neuprüll, registered in the list of natural monuments of the city of Regensburg

Until the early 19th century, under the name of Neubrühl , the place consisted of five to seven kemenaten along the road running in an east-west direction between Kutscherhof and Gras .

In 1803, the nearby Prüll monastery in the Karthaus-Prüll district was dissolved as part of secularization. This made seven day laborers unemployed. The state made an offer to them to settle along the field path south of the Prüller Höhe on the former Neuprüller Weg. As compensation, they each received three days of arable land to cultivate. In 1804, Neuprüll was founded by the farm workers of the monastery. Exactly 100 years after the settlement was founded, Neuprüll was incorporated into the city of Regensburg on January 1, 1904.

As a result, an increasing number of Karthaus-Prüll employees settled in Neuprüll. More and more houses are clinging to the existing houses on Neuprüller Weg and today's Universitätsstraße. With the streets “Am Buchenfeld” and “An der Kreuzbreite” in Neuprüll, a first small street network and a new, quiet residential area with residential buildings south of the Prüller Höhe will be created. With the first row houses, Neuprüll expands to the west. The University of Regensburg , its sports facilities and the university clinic are located in the fields of the Neuprüller farmers . Today the fields in Neuprüll are almost completely cultivated. One of Neuprüll's landmarks, an old linden tree at the highest point of the village, has been preserved to this day and several footpaths lead directly to it from all directions. The linden tree is thus a central component of the magnificent park adjoining to the south.

In addition, one of the many water reservoirs for the city of Regensburg was built directly at the former Kutscherhof on Prüller Höhe. Underground springs lead the water from inside the mountain and the like. a. to the north, towards the city, and thus serve as an inlet to the source of the Vitusbach in the church of St. Vitus of the former monastery.
