Neurofunk
Neurofunk is an end of the 1990s Resulting subgenre of drum and bass . Drum and bass producers Ed Rush , Optical, Matrix and MC / producer Ryme Tyme pioneered this field . This style , which has evolved from the drum-and-bass sub-genre Techstep , contains many influences from, among others, the styles of techno and acid .
history
The term Neurofunk was first used in 1997 by the cultural journalist Simon Reynolds in an article in the music magazine The Wire .
Characteristic of Neurofunk are bass melodies that vibrate quickly from note to note (sometimes an entire octave), harsh sawtooth waves and muffled, short snare drums . The overall sound of the Neurofunk is mostly described as gloomy and cold.
Well-known representatives are z. B. Billain , KOAN Sound and Black Sun Empire .
