Neurofunk is an end of the 1990s Resulting subgenre of drum and bass . Drum and bass producers Ed Rush , Optical, Matrix and MC / producer Ryme Tyme pioneered this field . The term Neurofunk was first used in 1997 by the cultural journalist Simon Reynolds in an article in the music magazine The Wire .
