Neustadt Süd ( French Nouvelle ville sud ) together with Neustadt Nord form the inner city of Biel / Bienne . By channeled arm of Schüss the Neustadt is divided into a northern and southern part. Neustadt Süd is bounded to the north by the Schüss, south by the Zihl and west by Lake Biel . Furthermore, this quarter borders on Nidau and the quarters Madretsch Nord and Madretsch Süd . The Bahnhofsstrasse as part of the main shopping street begins at Biel station and extends to the Zentralplatz, which divides the Neustadt into two parts and from there continues to the traffic-free shopping street as Nidaugasse.

Infrastructure

The neoclassical Biel Central Station and the Federal Office of Communication are located here. The lido from the Bauhaus era, the Volkshaus and the modern landmark of Biel, the Kongresshaus, can also be found here. The port of the scheduled ships is also in this quarter.
