New Amici is a board game for learning foreign languages ​​through play . It can be played jointly by learners of different levels and learning directions (e.g. in the German-Spanish version by Spaniards learning German and Germans learning Spanish). The game relies heavily on translations, but also contains questions about regional studies and role-playing elements .

Game objective

The game is divided into three rounds: the home round, the travel round and the final round. In the first two rounds, players wander across the field and solve tasks of their own level. The aim is to reach the final round as quickly as possible with correct answers, in which the knowledge shown is checked and the winner is determined.

The game was developed in Norway in 2002 for learning English , German and French for Norwegians under the name New Amigos . Its inventor, Lakki Patey, is a Norwegian musician who has traveled a lot internationally. In 2004 it was brought to the German market by the marketer Californian Products, who sells board games and sportswear, under the current name in the versions German-English, - Spanish , - Italian and - French . In 2006 the game was also released in Austria. In Germany, the game has been distributed by Hueber Verlag since 2008 and the German- Russian , German- Japanese , German- Chinese and German- Turkish versions have now been launched .
