New Boyz was the name of an American hip-hop duo from Los Angeles . They both began solo careers under Legacy and Ben J in 2013 .

Career

Earl Benjamin (Ben J) and Dominic Thomas (Legacy) met in their first year of high school and formed the New Boyz in 2005 . They had their breakthrough in 2009 with the single You're a Jerk , which was successful in both the rap charts and the Hot 100 , and the associated raptanz . Their debut album Skinny Jeanz and a Mic , released shortly afterwards, could not quite build on the success, with another single, Tie Me Down , together with the R&B singer Ray J , they had another Top 40 hit.
