The New River is a river in northern Belize . It partly has the character of an inland lagoon.
It is mostly located in the Belizean district of Orange Walk , flows north through its capital, Orange Walk Town, and flows into the Corozal Bay in the Corozal district.
The river is of particular tourist interest, as the Mayan ruins of Lamanai are on its west bank and the ruins can be reached by boat from Orange Walk Town over the New River. The river is the habitat of crocodiles.
