The New York City Dance School is a dance school for stage dance in Stuttgart . It was founded in 1975 by Sabine and Ray Lynch.

history

Inspired by role models from the USA, the native of Osnabrück and the former GI opened one of the first dance schools where you could learn the hustle, bus stop or bump. Spurred on by the wave of dance films at the end of the 1970s, the school expanded to five studios and expanded its dance repertoire. From 1978 on, stage dances such as ballet , jazz and modern dance and tap dance were also offered. World-famous guest lecturers have taught in workshops, including Julia Poulet, Sonia Santiago , Christopher Hemmans, Andrea Böge, Sean Cheesman and Wayne Byers. Also well-known artists of popular dance styles Hip-hop and street dance as Jimmie Surles, choreographer and finalist Sat.1 telecast You can dance 2007 or Les Twins regularly give courses.

Fed by the talents of the dance school, the New York City Dance School also established five ensembles that are still on stage at numerous events, fashion shows as well as in-house and external dance productions and also at international dance championships, such as the World Dance Masters in Poreč / Croatia, celebrated great successes.

Since 2006, the New York City Dance School has offered the Professional Dance Academy, a private, 18-month training course to become a certified dancer, choreographer and dance teacher, an alternative professional dance training to the strictly regulated, state-recognized educational institutions. The Professional Dance Academy pursues a holistic training approach that is not specific to the dance style, but rather designed for diversity. The main faculty consists of 15 international lecturers with many years of stage and teaching experience and we are complemented by guest lecturers. The course content includes jazz dance, hip-hop, ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, tap dance, choreography, acting, singing, dance education, dance history, anatomy and cultural management. The students are also involved in stage productions and the study trip to Paris supports them in international networking.

Today the dance and ballet school is located in the Tanzhaus Stuttgart, which was founded in 2008. Initially in cooperation with the Production Center for Dance and Performance, today the New York City Dance School, the Professional Dance Academy and the Association for the Promotion of Young Talent in the Stage and Dance Sport bundle their energies under one roof on 1,500 square meters to promote dance in Stuttgart and in to promote all of Germany, both in the hobby and in the professional field.

With around 140 different courses per week for children, teenagers and adults, the New York City Dance School is one of the most extensive dance schools in Europe. The program includes dance lessons in classical ballet, modern dance, tap dance, jazz dance and hip-hop as well as current training to strengthen body awareness such as Feldenkrais , Pilates and placement.
