The Ngardok Lake is located in the east of the island of Babelthuap . It is part of the West Pacific island republic of Palau and belongs to the Palau administrative region of Melekeok .
The almost 500 meters long and barely 100 meters wide lake is divided by a peninsula into almost two equal areas of the lake. It forms the largest natural freshwater lake in all of Micronesia . There is a connection to the open sea via the Ngerdorch River , which is why numerous saltwater crocodiles breed here.
Since 2007 the lake and the surrounding area has been a nature reserve of Palau ( Lake Ngardok Nature Reserve ).
