Ngawang Lodrö Dragpa ( Tib. Ngag dbang blo gros grags pa ; * 1920 ; † 1975 ) was a modern scholar of the Jonang tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . He is the author of an important history of the Buddhist teaching of the Jonang Order (short: jo nang chos' byung ).

History of the Jonang School

His history of the Jonang School provides an overview of the development of the Jonang Order in Tibet and in Qinghai and Sichuan (or Amdo and Kham ) and introduces some monks - e. B. Yumo Mikyö Dorje ( yu mo mi bskyod rdo rje ), Künpang Thugje Tsöndrü ( kun spangs thugs rje brtson 'grus ) and Sherab Gyeltshen ( shes rab rgyal mtshan ) - who made significant contributions to the establishment and development of this school. In the appendix there are two writings by Taranatha : “General Presentation of the Vajra Vehicle” and “Studies on the Unreality of the Properties of the Madhyamaka ”.
