Nguyen Ngoc Tu

Nguyen Ngoc Tu ( Vietnamese : Nguyễn Ngọc Tư , born January 1, 1976 in Tan Duyet , Cà Mau ) is a Vietnamese writer.

biography

She was born in 1976 in Ca Mau Province in the Mekong Delta , where she still lives. For her work she received the South-east Asian Writers Award (2008) and the Vietnam Writers' Association Award (2006) for Endless Fields . Nguyen Ngoc Tu received the LiBeraturpreis in 2018 for her volume of short stories Endlose Felder (German 2017). Their stories take place in this landscape between water and rice fields. She tells of duck breeders, harvest workers, old, silent men and unhappy women between longing for a family and prostitution.
