Nikolaus Brodszky
Nikolaus Brodszky (also Nicolas or Miklós Brodszky; born April 20, 1905 in Odessa , Russian Empire as Miklos Louis Brownstein ; † December 24, 1958 in Hollywood , Los Angeles , California , USA ) was a Russian-Jewish composer and musician .
biography
Brodszky wrote numerous hits , film and operetta music in the 1930s .
He spent a large part of his education in Italy, where he studied at several conservatories. Increasingly he turned to the light muse , wrote dance music and operettas, with which he had great success and became internationally known. In the 1950s he was nominated for an Oscar five times in the “Best Song” category, four of them in collaboration with Sammy Cahn .
In Berlin he worked as a composer for sound film operettas. One of his most famous works is the music film Gitta discovers her heart (D 1932) with Gitta Alpár .
In 1934 Brodszky emigrated to the USA. After the Second World War he worked increasingly for Austrian film.
