Nicholas Wilkinson
Nicholas Wilkinson (born March 15, 1988 in Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian - British politician of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2017 .
Life
Wilkinson, whose father is British, grew up in Nordre Follo commune . In 2007 he became a member of the local parliament of what was then Oppegård . From 2008 to 2012 he studied at the University of Manchester . In 2011 he received a bachelor's degree in politics, philosophy and economics, followed by a master's degree in political economics in 2012. He received the Jean Monnet Prize of Excellence for his master's thesis . From 2013 to 2014 he was Secretary General of SV in what was then Akershus Province . In 2014 he was elected chairman of the youth organization Sosialistisk Ungdom , an office he held until 2016. He then worked as a consultant in the children's aid organization Forandringsfabrikken .
In the 2017 general election , Wilkinson entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time . There he represents the constituency of Akershus and is a member of the health and welfare committee. After he got blood poisoning in May 2018 and was put into an artificial coma , he had to be represented in parliament. Wilkinson was diagnosed with aphasia and was initially unable to speak or write. Only in January 2020 did he return to his work as a member of parliament. In June 2020 he declared that he did not want to run again for a seat in Storting in the 2021 election .
He has been married to Sebastian Forbes since January 2019.
