Nick Butterworth

Nick Butterworth (* 1946 in Kingsbury , London ) is a British author and illustrator of picture books .

Life

In 1947 his family moved to Romford (then a town in Essex , part of Greater London since 1965 ).

After school he worked as a type designer in various printing houses. His first picture book was published in 1981 and earned him a job as the author of a picture story called Upney Junction on the Sunday Express . He also acted as the presenter of the children's program Rub-a-Dub-Tub on British television.

Butterworth's most famous work is the picture book series Tales from Percy's Park . It has been sold over four million times and is available in fifteen languages. Butterworth's work The Whisperer (original title: The Whisperer ) was honored with the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize in 2005 .

His picture books about the alien Q Pootle 5 were implemented as a television series in 2013 .

Butterworth is married with two children. He and his family live in Suffolk .
