Nick Fry (born June 29, 1956 in Epsom , England ) is a British economist and managing director of the Formula 1 team Mercedes GP .

Career

After studying economics at the University of Wales , Fry joined Ford in 1977 , where he held various positions until 2000. In 2001 he moved to Prodrive , a company for motorsport engineering that was founded and managed by David Richards and that participates in the World Rally Championship as a cooperation partner of Subaru, among other things .

In 2002, Fry was given additional responsibility for the British American Racing (B · A · R) Formula 1 team , which was also managed by Richards. In 2005 he became general director and team boss of the racing team after Richard retired. He kept these positions even after the team was taken over by the Japanese automotive group Honda at the end of 2005 . Before the 2008 season, however, he shared responsibility with the Briton Ross Brawn , who took over the role of team boss. In 2009 he was managing director of the Formula 1 team Brawn GP and will keep this position even after the takeover by Mercedes-Benz . Together with Ross Brawn, Fry has a 24.9% stake in the team.

In July 2009, Fry married his girlfriend Kate.
