Nicholas Noble (born September 1, 1984 in Charleston , West Virginia ) is an American football goalkeeper .
Career
Noble played 79 games in college soccer for West Virginia University from 2003 to 2006 . In 2006 he was elected to the First Team All-American of the NCAA and was named the best college goalkeeper of the season. During the off season during his student days, he played a few games in the USL Premier Development League for the Bradenton Academics (2005) and West Virginia Chaos (2006). After the end of his college career he was drafted in the MLS Supplemental Draft 2007 by Chicago Fire in the 1st round in 7th place.
Behind the regular goalkeepers Matt Pickens and Jon Busch , Noble was only used in one competitive game in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and in a few international friendly games in the following two and a half years . In June 2009 he was put on the waiver list by Chicago Fire and spent the remainder of the season in the USL First Division with the Austin Aztex . In early 2010 Noble moved to the Swedish second division club Ljungskile SK as the successor to his compatriot Colin Burns . He quickly became the team's regular goalkeeper here.
On December 22, 2011, he signed a contract with Los Angeles Galaxy , where he should play from the 2012 season. On February 29, 2012 he was released from the Californians so that they could sign the goalkeeper Bill Gaudette.
In April 2012, he moved to the USL pro franchise Harrisburg City Islanders . In the first season he was able to establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the league and was nominated for the USL Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
