Nick van der Velden (born December 16, 1981 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player who plays for Bali United in Indonesia .
Player career
Nick van der Velden started his career as a professional footballer in 2003 with the Dutch first division club RKC Waalwijk . In his first two seasons in the Eredivisie , however, he only made 13 appearances. He was then awarded to FC Dordrecht in the second division in 2005 . In the 2006/07 season, however, van der Velden again had a difficult time in Waalwijk, so the attacking midfielder moved permanently to Dordrecht during the winter break.
After a strong season, van der Velden was signed by the Dutch top club AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2008 . In his first season at AZ he was under coach Louis van Gaal 20 times and helped his team celebrate the championship . In the following two years, however, he played less and less in Alkmaar, so that in the summer of 2011 he moved to league rivals NEC in Nijmegen despite an ongoing contract . After two years in Gelderland , he moved on to FC Groningen .
