Nico Wenzl (born April 11,  2001 in Weiden ) is a German basketball player .

career

Until 2015, Wenzl played in the youth of the DJK Neustadt an der Waldnaab and for the BBC Bayreuth in the youth basketball league (JBBL). In the 2015/16 season, the development player was part of the JBBL Eisbären Bremerhaven team . In 2016/17 he played again in Neustadt and Bayreuth, and with the beginning of the 2017/18 game year then completely in Bayreuth. While Wenzl was mainly used in the youth and men's team of the BBC Bayreuth in the 2nd regional league, he played his first brief appearance  in the basketball Bundesliga in the colors of Medi Bayreuth in May 2018 . In the 2018/19 season, Wenzl was the best scorer of the Bayreuth U19 team in the junior basketball league (NBBL) with 17.4 points per match . As a result of a strong season, the playoffs could be reached for the first time. For the 2019/20 season he signed a professional contract for three years in Bayreuth in order to continue to be introduced to the Bundesliga squad. From 2019, thanks to a double license, he was also entitled to play for the BBC Coburg ( 2nd Bundesliga ProB ).
