Nicola Bostelmann & Sohn Elektroinstallationen GmbH is an Austrian company that specializes in building technology and electrical engineering . The head office is at Brünner Strasse 52 in the 21st district.

history

Nicola Bostelmann (* 1847 in Aachen ) graduated from technical school and worked as a technician for the Rheinische Eisenbahn , among other things . In 1879 he came to Vienna and worked as a mechanic until 1884, after which he became self-employed as an electrician and mechanic. In the same year he and his family became Austrian citizens.

Bostelmann ran his company with great success and in 1906 already employed over 40 people. His company manufactured electronic thermometer systems , central heating systems , lightning rods , cooling systems for ice factories, etc. The company supplied the installations for the city of Vienna's electricity works or for the Lainz municipal utility . Bostelmann also received imperial orders to install the electrics in the Eckartsau , Chlumetz , Halbturn , Weilburg and Schwarzau castles . The company received an order from the Prince of Saxony-Coburg to equip Gerasdorf Castle with electricity.

Public buildings such as the Volkstheater and the Steinhof Church were also furnished by Bostelmann. In 1911 he was awarded the title of purveyor to the court for electromechanics in recognition of his services .

The First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy hit the company less hard than other purveyors to the court, as Bostelmann was active in an industry that not only produced luxury goods. In 1926 the company received the order to equip the Rax cable car . A number of patents from the Bostelmann company also included a warning system for false deaths that was used in Vienna's central cemetery .

In 1932 the son of Nicola Bostelmann, Hans Bostelmann, joined the company, which from then on was called "Nicola Bostelmann & Sohn GmbH". Karl Zoglauer, an acquaintance of the Bostelmanns, joined the company in 1938, and his family later took over management of the company.

After the Second World War and the reconstruction, Bostelmann received many orders, including equipping the tobacco factory Ottakring , the Oberlaa indoor thermal pool , several Vienna underground stations , the Döbling sanatorium , the Marriott Hotel , the Wimberger Hotel (also a former purveyor to the court) , the golf and residential complex in Süßenbrunn , as well as orders for many other office or residential buildings as well as public buildings.

In 2004, under the management of the Zoglauer family, the Bostelmann company was merged with the Babak company.
