At the Städelschule Frankfurt a. M. and the Kunstakademie Mainz and completed an MA in Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Art in London . She has received numerous scholarships, including the Villa Serpentara scholarship from the Berlin Academy of the Arts (2004), the Kunstfonds Bonn foundation (2005) and the one-year Los Angeles / Pasadena scholarship from the Berlin Senate (2005–2006). Since 2015 she has been professor for painting / graphics at the University of Fine Arts in Essen . Her works have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions; among others at Galerie Wittenbrink, Munich (2015), Lisa Norris Galerie, London (2015), Kunstverein Schwäbisch Hall (2014), Stadtmuseum Oldenburg (2014), Kunstverein Duisburg (2012), and SNO Contemporary Art Projects, Sydney (2012).

In order to adapt to the international art scene, she has been writing her last name without the umlaut "ä" since 2019, which means "Staeglich" instead of originally "Daily". She lives and works in Berlin and Essen.

Nicola St Zeiten works abstractly , whereby her painting style concentrates on color strips. The paint is applied in a specific way with broad brushes that combine control and chance with each stroke. Sometimes she uses paint pouring. In her paintings, she creates pictorial spaces from transparent color modulations that are characterized by geometric and organic elements.

The artist often works in series of images. In an early series, she was guided by the Chinese I-Ching's system of signs when creating the stripe-like picture elements . In another series, arc and wave shapes were added that were inspired by the landscape of the Indian Markha Valley. A series with irregularly curved shapes was influenced by the landscape of the Grand Canyon . This was followed by a series with significantly narrower lines and triangular shapes that split the pictorial space like splinters or rays of light. The work with the surface was also noticeable here, as it remained as a partially free painting surface. This principle has been expanded in the “Transparencies” series, as the painting surface is made of Plexiglas . As a result, the wall on which the picture is hung shines through the body of the picture. The artist understands this as “a kind of reverse glass painting ” that is “painting and light sculpture at the same time”. Another series emerged from Städlich's preoccupation with the circle on a square painting surface.

Wall objects and sculptures form a smaller part of her work. They are developed from the vocabulary of colors and shapes in her paintings. In layers or in a spiral shape, they emerge from the wall and unfold in hanging loops and standing objects in the room. The cut serves to burst open the two-dimensionality: MDF and rigid foam panels are painted, sawn, arched and reassembled. Paint is applied, poured or sprayed in thin layers with a brush. The coexistence of the painterly and the sculptural creates color spaces that expand into real space and merge with it. Due to the physical structure of the work, light and cast shadows become active components of the composition.

Both the paintings and the sculptures should be able to experience color and space and enter into a physical dialogue with the viewer.
