Nicolaas Laurens Burman
Nicolaas Laurens Burman (born December 27, 1734 in Amsterdam , † September 11, 1793 there ) was a Dutch botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Burm.f. ".
Live and act
Nicolaas Laurens Burman was the son of the botanist Johannes Burman and his wife Adriana van Buuren. In 1751 he began his studies in Leiden , which he finished in 1759 with a thesis on the genus of geraniums . The following year he went to Uppsala to continue his studies with Carl von Linné . At the beginning of 1768 his most important work appeared with Flora Indica ; in the same year he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . In 1769 he succeeded his father as professor at the "Atheneum" (a higher school) in Amsterdam .
