Nicolas Alfonsi
Nicolas Alfonsi (born April 13, 1936 in Cargèse , Corsica ; † March 16, 2020 in Ajaccio , Corsica) was a French lawyer and politician ( PRG ).
Alfonsi represented the Corse-du-Sud department as a member of the National Assembly and as a member of the Senate . He was also mayor of the small Corsican community of Piana from 1962 to 2001 . From 1981 to 1984 he was a member of the European Parliament for the Mouvement des Radicaux de Gauche , where he belonged to the Socialist Group .
Alfonsi died in March 2020 at the age of 83 during the COVID-19 pandemic of the consequences of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
