Nicolas Caerels
Nicolas Caerels (born August 18, 1889 in Schaerbeek ; † June 23, 1966 there ) was a Belgian racing driver .
Career
Nicolas Caerles was a works driver for the Belgian automobile company Excelsior in international sports car races in the 1920s . Together with his compatriot André Dills , he finished sixth overall in the first Le Mans 24-hour race in motor sport history in 1923 . This was also the victory in the class for vehicles up to 8 liter displacement. His greatest success in motorsport was the overall victory at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 1927 .
