Nicolas Dupuis (born October 10, 1993 in Montréal ), who became known under the pseudonym or band name " Anomalie ", is a Canadian pianist , keyboardist , composer and producer .

Life and work

Dupuis began piano training at an early age and later studied with Yolande Gaudreau and for four years with jazz pianist Lorraine Desmarais at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent in Saint-Laurent , a district of Montréal. In 2012 he was the first to be awarded the Excellence Prize from the Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin .

He initially worked in the shows of the DJ Gramatik , later he played alone or with a small band.

Now he usually performs solo, only with a synthesizer , which he tilts forward enough for the audience to see the movements of his fingers. In this way, should be recognized that he actually plays live and not pre-programmed MIDI - sequencer used.

His music, which is characterized by wit and humor, has its roots in jazz , but is also heavily influenced by electronic music , as well as hip-hop and funk . Overall, it can be attributed to Nu Jazz .

He is particularly successful on the Spotify streaming portal , where he currently (March 2020) has almost 175,000 monthly listeners.
