Gramatik (real name Denis Jašarević ; born October 19, 1984 in Portorož , Slovenia ) is a Slovenian DJ and music producer who lives in the United States and whose music is assigned to Nu Jazz .

Career

Denis Jašarević was already enthusiastic about music as a child, he made his first experiments with beats at the age of thirteen on his PC. He later began to spread his pieces over the internet, which not only resulted in a growing fan base, but also live performances and eventually touring Slovenia. By the time he emigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn , he was already a seasoned live musician. He signed on to the Cold Busted label and later to Pretty Lights ' label Pretty Lights Music , whose productions are offered free of charge.

In addition to performing in Slovenia in 2010, Gramatik began performing live in the United States, across America, and beyond. In 2013 he toured Europe for the first time. He has performed in countries such as France and Belgium and has appeared at a number of major music festivals such as the Electric Zoo Festival in New York , the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival in Arkansas , the Osheaga in Montreal and the Dour Festival in Dour .

Gramatik has sold more than 100,000 songs through Beatport , the online market leader for electronic dance music. Several times he was on the first place of the local sales charts.

In February 2013 Gramatik founded his own label Lowtemp on which he released the album The Age of Reason in 2014 . Like #digitalfreedom , The Age of Reason was offered for free on BitTorrent .

His awards include three "Best Track" awards at the 2012 Beatport Music Awards.

origin

His father Ibrahim Jašarević (born April 30, 1965 in Visoko ) was a famous rock musician in Mostar in the late 1980s . He and his future wife Anjuška met in 1993. He and his family fled to the USA before the Bosnian War .
