Nicolaus Celer (also Zehler or Zceler ; from Breslau ; † 23 August 1516 ) was a Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Celer was dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Leipzig in 1493 and 1495 . In the winter semester of 1498 he became rector of the university. At the same time he was rector of the Thomas School in Leipzig around 1494 . He also worked as a preacher at the Nikolaikirche . After his death in 1516, Adolf von Anhalt-Zerbst , Bishop of Merseburg , ordered the epitaph Coronation of Mariae for Nicolaus Celer from the master of the Byzantine Madonna . It is now in the Leipzig City History Museum .
