Nicole Bastian

Nicole Bastian (* 1973 in Koblenz ) is a German journalist . She heads the international department of the Handelsblatt .

Career

Nicole Bastian names her participation in a China study group in the upper level of her high school as the beginning of her interest in Asia. Bastian then studied East Asian Studies with a focus on economics at the universities in Duisburg and Kyoto . After a subsequent traineeship at the German Press Agency (dpa), Nicole Bastian worked as an editor in the dpa business department in Hamburg and as a business reporter in Berlin. In 2002 she moved to the Handelsblatt. For five years she wrote as a Tokyo correspondent on economics and politics in Japan, South and North Korea. When the financial crisis broke out , she moved to Frankfurt as a bank correspondent in spring 2007. In October 2011 she took over the management of the finance department. Since 2014 she has been responsible for international topics for the Handelsblatt in Düsseldorf.
