The Nidder barracks was a military facility in the municipality of Schöneck in the Main-Kinzig district, which was founded in 1962 as the Schöneck camp and existed until 2005.

The Nidder barracks was founded as the Schöneck camp in 1962. The first unit that was stationed there was the anti-aircraft missile battalion 23, which was equipped with the NIKE missile system until 1986 . Then this unit was converted into the anti-aircraft missile group 42 and from April 1987 equipped with the anti-aircraft missile system Roland Rad (FRR) .

The anti-aircraft missile group 42 is dissolved by the air force structure 5 in 2002 and converted into a mixed Roland / HAWK group. The HAWK missiles were already in phase out at this point and were no longer deployed there. The new anti-aircraft missile group 14 will be distributed to the Schöneck, Bad Arolsen and Burbach locations. As early as December 31, 2003, the unit was relieved of its mission due to renewed restructuring and dissolved at the end of 2004.

On July 1, 2005, the barracks will be closed and used for civilian purposes. The Kilianstädten industrial park, which belongs to the property company Nidder-Kaserne OHG, is located on today's site. Most of it is used as a parking area. Most of the buildings were demolished.

The anti-aircraft missile battalion 23 was set up in Cologne-Wahn on October 1, 1959 and transferred to the Schöneck camp in 1962. From October 1960 it was equipped with the NIKE missile system. Its first commander was Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eckhardt. It was converted to anti-aircraft missile group 42 in 1986. It was also the end of the NIKE weapon system. Other locations were Bocholt , Gelsenkirchen , Kransberg , Heidenrod-Kemel , Gießen and, from 1966, in Lich .

The anti-aircraft missile group 42 was created in 1986 from the anti-aircraft missile battalion 23 and was equipped with the ROLAND anti-aircraft missile system from 1987. Its first commander was Lieutenant Colonel Hans-Georg Romeike. From 1987 to 1993 it was subordinate to anti-aircraft missile command 4. From 1993 the anti-aircraft missile squadron 4. In 1999 the unit was equipped with air-transportable vehicles. As of 2002, the unit was converted into the mixed anti-aircraft missile group 14. The unit was disbanded in 2005, its last commander was Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Lorber.
