Nidrum is a village in Belgium and part of the municipality of Bütgenbach in the German-speaking Community . Nidrum is about 2 kilometers north of Bütgenbach and has a population of 854 (2014).

history

The history of the village can be traced back to the early 15th century. There are records of a Thomas de Nydrum who left his home village in the direction of Malmedy around 1430.

After the Prussian rural community code for the Rhineland came into force in 1845, Nidrum became an independent local community within the Bütgenbach community and remained so until December 31, 1921. From 1922 until the invasion of the Wehrmacht in 1940 and again from the end of the war, Nidrum belonged to the community of Elsenborn . In the course of the municipality reform, the municipality of Elsenborn was finally transferred to the municipality of Bütgenbach in 1977.
