description

Never before is 4:25 minutes long. The pop music song is written throughout in a major key in slow four-four time . The simple melody is accompanied by synthesizers and a subtle rhythm section. The song is sung in a high, emphatic voice.

The text is about the impending separation of the singer from his partner; the duration of the separation is “indefinite” and will be “years”. The reason for the separation is not mentioned. The song was interpreted in such a way that the singer is looking forward to his military service ; In the original, unpublished version of Werner Karma's text, three years were explicitly mentioned as the separation period, as was mandatory for service as a temporary sergeant.

The singer appeals to his partner: "Never, never before have I relied on you like this to survive the time."
