The Niedersächsische Kraftwerke AG (Nike) was a regional energy supplier based in Osnabrück .
history
Nike was founded in April 1912 with headquarters in Osnabrück. The Berlin-based company, the Gesellschaft für electrical enterprises ("Gesfürel") and the Elektro Licht- und Kraftanlagen-AG (Elikraft), had a majority share in the founding . Nike took over the power plant of the Hannoversche Kolonisations- und Moorverwertungs-Gesellschaft in Schwegermoor and also built the Nike power plant in Ibbenbüren, which was still in operation in 1912, near the hard coal mine there.
The RWE acquired the shares of Nike in 1920, bringing the RWE first time, the energy supply in parts of Lower Saxony took over. Even after RWE became the sole shareholder, Nike remained as a pure shell company . In 2003, Nike was part of RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems .
