The RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems AG (seat Dortmund ) was until 31 August 2009, a regional energy suppliers for electricity , gas and district heating in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony .

The supply area for around 1.1 million customers included the Recklinghausen district and the Unna district , the Münsterland , the Sauerland , the Emsland , the Osnabrücker Land , the Tecklenburger Land , East Westphalia-Lippe and parts of the Siegerland . RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems had around 2,700 employees.

They worked in the head office in Dortmund, in the administrative locations of the sales regions Bochum, Münster and Osnabrück and in the (technical) regional centers in Recklinghausen , Nordhorn , Münster , Osnabrück and Arnsberg . The company's turnover in 2005 was around 5.1 billion euros, sales around 22 TWh electricity and 67 TWh gas.

history

RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems AG existed from October 1, 2003 to August 31, 2009 and replaced the electricity sales company RWE Plus, the electricity network operator RWE Net and the company RWE Gas as an integrated energy supplier.

The supply area is a merger of the areas of the United Electricity Works Westphalia (VEW), the Lower Saxony power plants (NIKE) and the Westfälische Ferngas-AG (WFG). With entry in the commercial register on September 1, 2009, the company merged with RWE Rhein-Ruhr AG (today: RWE Rheinland Westfalen Netz AG), Essen, in accordance with the merger agreement of August 11, 2009 .
