The Westphalian Remote Gas AG (WFG) was a regional gas supplier in southern and eastern Westphalia . Since 2000 it has merged with the gas department of the United Electricity Works Westphalia (VEW) and is part of RWE .

history

Westfälische Ferngas-AG was founded on July 24, 1928 in Dortmund by the Provincial Association of the Province of Westphalia , the Free State of Lippe and several districts, cities and offices in Westphalia. The foundation was based on the desire to act as a negotiating partner on an equal footing with Ruhrgas AG and, on the one hand, to secure a nationwide gas supply in Westphalia and, on the other hand, to be able to pass the low purchase prices on to end consumers.

In 1968 the shareholders, the regional association Westphalia-Lippe , the regional association Lippe as well as 14 districts, 19 cities, one office and five municipalities, unanimously approved the increase in the share capital from DM 12.2 million to DM 22.75 million.

In 1968 the company supplied 25 cities and municipalities as independent distributors, 15 local supplies as concession areas and over 400 large and medium-sized enterprises. This was the purpose of 505.5 km of high- pressure lines and 316 km of low-pressure lines in WFG's own local supplies.

Since 1966, the WFG has converted around 55% of its sales to natural gas, following the structural change in the gas industry caused by the economic and supply side .

In the 40th year of its existence (1968) the total usable gas output (sales gas output and pipelines) of the company amounted to 1101 million m³. Insofar as the company could not economically or technically fulfill its supply mandate with pipeline-bound coke oven gas or natural gas, it had at that time expanded a liquefied gas distribution network with around 400 agencies.
