Low-energy house in Ganghoferstraße
The low-energy house on the corner of Ganghoferstrasse and Baumgartnerstrasse is an energy-efficient residential building built between 1994 and 1996 in the Sendling district of Munich . The building complex was planned by the Munich architects Raupach und Schurk on behalf of the GWG Gemeinnützige Wohnstätten- und Siedlungsgesellschaft . The complex with 79 partially handicapped-accessible apartments, a two-group kindergarten, day nursery and underground car park consists of three U-shaped structures that enclose a protected inner courtyard with play facilities.
The energy concept was developed together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics , Stuttgart, and consistently takes into account all possibilities for reducing energy consumption such as a highly insulated building envelope , innovative window systems, passive energy generation, a thermal solar system for domestic water heating and other technologies. The facade of the south wing consists of an immission protection wall made of glass and aluminum, which stands at a distance of two meters in front of the actual building and forms a thermal buffer zone; at the same time, this zone is similar to a loggia accessible from the apartments and thus extends the living space . Through these bundled measures, the heat consumption could be reduced by 25 percent below the values required by the thermal insulation ordinance, so that the building fulfills the criteria of a low-energy house .
The facility was awarded the 1998 German Builder Award.
