The Niegocin ([ nʲɛˈgɔʨin ] German Löwentinsee or Lötzener See ) is a lake in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . The name also stands for the associated train station on the Głomno – Białystok railway line .
The sea
The Niegocin is located in the Masurian Lake between their largest lakes, Śniardwy (Spirdingsee), with which it over the lakes Talter water (Tałty) and Mikołajskie lake is connected, and a number of channels and smaller lakes, and Mamry (Mauersee) , with its Side lakes Kissainsee (Kisajno) and Dargainensee (Dargin) it is connected via the Lötzener Kanal (Kanał Giżycki) . The lake has an area of 2,604 hectares and a maximum depth of about 40 meters. This deepest point is at the northern end not far from the town of Giżycko (Lötzen) . At its longest point it has an extension of 10.8 kilometers and at the widest of 4.8 kilometers.
There are plans to connect the Spirdingsee with the Löwentinsee via a new canal via the Türkle-See, Martinshagener See and Hessen-See.
Niegocin train station
The train station with the name "Niegocin" has been called that since 1949. It used to be a train station, now it's a stop. It is located on route 38 of the Polish State Railways (PKP) Głomno – Białystok and belongs to the local area of Wilkasy (Willkassen , 1938 to 1945 Wolfsee) southwest of the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) .
From 1907 to 1945, the station was called "Boyen" in reference to the nearby Boyen Festival in the town of Lötzen. In the years before 1945 the railway line connected Königsberg (Prussia) ( Russian Kaliningrad ) with Brest-Litovsk .
Boyen station was a residential area in the rural community of Willkassen (1938 to 1945 Wolfsee, Polish: Wilkasy) in the district of Lötzen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
