The Nienburger Annalen ( Latin Annales Nienburgenses ) were a chronicle from the Nienburg monastery in Nienburg an der Saale in Latin from the 12th century .

Origin and content

The annals began in 1134. For the period from at least 781 to 1131 they were a compilation of other chronicles, especially the Quedlinburg , Hildesheim and Rosenfeld annals and other writings. For the following years it contained own information. The annals ended in 1139.

The author is unknown. Due to the similarity to the design of the Chronicle of the Annalista Saxo , it is suspected that it was created in the Berge Monastery under Abbot Arnold or in its vicinity in recent times . They would then have to be called Berger Annalen .
