The European Darts Matchplay 2018 is a ranking tournament in darts and was organized for the fourth time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from June 29th to July 1st, 2018 . It was the ninth event of the European Darts Tour 2018 , which will be carried out as part of the Pro Tour 2018 . The venue was again the edel-optics.de Arena in Hamburg .
The tournament win was secured by the Dutchman Michael van Gerwen , who prevailed in the final with 8: 2 legs against the Irishman William O'Connor .
format
The tournament was played in a knockout system . Game mode was best of 11 legs in the first rounds , best of 13 legs in the semi-finals and best of 15 legs in the final . Each leg was played in double-out mode.
Prize money
The tournament totaled £ 135,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
