The European Darts Matchplay 2016 was a ranking tournament in darts, which was organized for the second time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from May 13th to 15th, 2016 . It was the fourth event of the European Darts Tour , which is part of the Pro Tour 2016 . The venue for the first time was the Inselparkhalle in Hamburg .

James Wade replaced the reigning defending champion Michael van Gerwen after a 6-5 final win against Dave Chisnall .

format

The tournament was played in a knockout system . Game mode in all rounds was a best of 11 legs . Each leg was played in double-out mode.

Prize money

The tournament totaled £ 115,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
