Benito van de Pas (born January 18, 1993 in Tilburg , Netherlands ) is a Dutch darts player .
Career
BDO (2009 to 2014)
Benito van de Pas started his darts career in the BDO . He had his first major success in 2011 when he won the German Open . He took part in the BDO World Championship three times (2012, 2013 and 2014), but was always eliminated in the first main round.
PDC (since 2014)
In January 2014 van de Pas switched to the competing darts association, the PDC . The year went very well for him. He reached several quarterfinals on the ProTour, so he played his way directly into the Top 32 of the ProTour Order of Merit. This placement qualified him to take part in the 2014 Players Championship Finals . However, he failed in round 1 to Peter Wright 6-2.
At the end of 2014 Benito van de Pas also qualified for the PDC World Championship 2015 in Alexandra Palace , London . In the first round he met Paul Nicholson from Australia . Van de Pas was able to prevail with just 3-2 and reached the round of 32. There he played against top 10 player Dave Chisnall . Benito van de Pas surprisingly won 4-2. In the round of 16, however, he lost to Robert Thornton (4-0).
In 2015 he started at 42nd place in the world ranking . In March he qualified for the UK Open at Minehead . As in the previous year lost in the 3rd round. At a Players Championship tournament he threw a 9-darter against Max Hopp in the 2nd round and won 6-2 in the end. In June he reached his first PDC final at the International Darts Open in Riesa . On the way there he suggested u. a. Michael van Gerwen (6: 4) and Kim Huybrechts (6: 3). However, he lost the final against Michael Smith 3: 6. In 2017 he reached another PDC final with strong performances at the German Darts Open 2017 , where he played an average of over 110 points, but was defeated by the Scot Peter Wright (6: 5).
