Rowby-John Rodriguez (born March 27, 1994 in Vienna ) is an Austrian darts player .

Career

BDO

Rodriguez began his career with the BDO at the age of 16 . In the very first year, namely 2010, he won his first title, the Austrian National Championship . In the final, he defeated Franz Thaler 5-0. He achieved a few smaller tournament victories, e.g. B. the Baltic Cup Open . In the main events, however, he could not achieve any successes worth mentioning.

PDC

In 2013 Rodriguez moved to the competing darts association PDC . He took part in the U-21 World Cup in 2014 and reached the final. This took place on May 22nd, 2014 in the O2 Arena London . His opponent was Keegan Brown . Rowby-John Rodriguez lost 6-4.

As a finalist of the U-21 World Cup, he received a starting place for the Grand Slam of Darts 2014 . There he met in Group C on Adrian Lewis , Dave Chisnall and Keegan Brown . He beat Lewis 5-2 in the first game, but lost the other two games and was eliminated.

At the end of 2014 Rodriguez was allowed to take part in the PDC World Championship 2015 . He played in the first round against the five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld and lost clearly 3-0. At the PDC World Championship in 2016 he lost 3-2 in the first round, this time to Dave Chisnall , but impressed with a 170 finish in the second leg of the third set.
