The German Darts Championship is a ranking tournament in darts and was organized from October 14th to 16th, 2016 by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was the tenth and last event of the European Darts Tour , which was carried out as part of the Pro Tour 2016 . The venue was Hall 39 in Hildesheim .

Defending champion Michael van Gerwen was replaced by the Englishman Alan Norris , who won the tournament for the first time with a 6: 5 legs final victory over Jelle Klaasen .

format

The tournament was played in a knockout system . Game mode in all rounds was a best of 11 legs . Each leg was played in double-out mode.

Prize money

The tournament totaled £ 115,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
