The Gibraltar Darts Trophy was a ranking tournament in darts that was held for the fourth time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from May 6th to 8th, 2016 . It was the third event of the European Darts Tour , which is part of the Pro Tour 2016 . The venue was the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar for the fourth time .

Michael van Gerwen entered the race as reigning defending champion , who was also able to successfully defend his title.

format

The tournament was played in a knockout system . Game mode in all rounds was a best of 11 legs . Each leg was played in double-out mode.

Prize money

The tournament totaled £ 115,000 in prize money. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
