René Eidams (born May 9, 1989 in Hagen ) is a German darts player . In public and in the media he is also known as "The Cube".

Career

Eidams started playing e-darts in 2005 and participated in tournaments. He was able to achieve great success in the E-Dart Champions League and the E-Dart European Championship, where he reached second place in each case.

In 2013 he switched to steel darts and qualified for the German Darts Championship in 2014 . There he lost to Joey Palfreyman 5-6 in the first round .

In 2014 he took part in the PDC European Tour .

In 2015 he played in the BULL's Superleague . Due to various failures of other participants, he was able to qualify for the final round despite his 10th place. In the final he defeated Maik Langendorf 10: 8 and was able to qualify for the PDC World Championship 2016 . There he defeated Thanawat Gaweenuntawong 2: 0 in the preliminary round , but had to admit defeat to world number one Michael van Gerwen 2: 3 in round 2 .

He was the only German to qualify for the UK Open in 2016 . There he lost 3: 9 to James Wilson in the third round. At the German Darts Masters 2016 he lost to Michael van Gerwen 3: 6 in the second round .

After missing the qualification for the PDC World Championship 2017, Eidams tried unsuccessfully to earn a tour card in the Q-School. At the Austrian Darts Open 2017 he lost in the second round to Cristo Reyes 5-6 .

In 2018, Eidams qualified for the UK Open , but lost to Dave Chisnall in the second round . At the German Darts Open 2018 he also made it into the second round.

In 2019 Eidams took part in the Q-School again, but could not get a tour ticket.

Eidams has been commenting on selected games at the PDC World Championship for DAZN since 2018 together with Elmar Paulke .
