Niginho , also Fantoni III , (actually Leonízio Fantoni ; born February 12, 1912 in Belo Horizonte , † September 5, 1975 ) was a Brazilian football player and coach .
family
Nininho came from a family that produced some footballers. In addition to him, his brothers Orlando and Ninão and his cousin Otávio .
career
Niginho, whose career took place in the 1930s and 40s, mostly competed for Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . He won the Campeonato Mineiro six times with this club . In addition, he reached the state championship in São Paulo with Palmeiras and that of Rio (" Campeonato Carioca ") with Vasco da Gama .
With Brazil's national team he took a. a. participated in the 1938 World Cup in France .
Niginho declared in 1958 that Leonidas had faked his injury before the semi-final game against Italy due to a payment from Benito Mussolini in order not to have to play. Leonidas sued him for defamation and won in court.
