Nikša Stipčević

Nikša Stipčević (born August 14, 1929 in Split , Yugoslavia ; † June 12, 2011 in Belgrade , Serbia ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian Romance studies .

Life

He studied Romance studies at the University of Belgrade from 1948 to 1953 , where he then taught Italian . From 1959 to 1961 he taught Serbo-Croatian at the University of Paris . In 1965 he received his doctorate with a thesis on The literary views of Antonio Gramscis .

He then taught Italian literature at the University of Belgrade, first as assistant professor from 1966, from 1972 as associate professor and from 1976 as full professor until his retirement in 1994. He was elected a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1983 and a full member in 1994 . Since 1999 he has been the vice-president of Matica srpska .

From August 1992 to May 1993 he was special envoy of the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia , Dobrica Ćosić , in Rome .

Awards

He received the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, initially in 1971 in the officer class , and in 1979 in the next higher order class of commander .
