Nike Mahlhaus ( pseudonym ; born around 1993 ) is a German environmentalist who is known for her commitment to phasing out coal . She is studying social sciences in Berlin and is the spokesperson for the Ende Terrain movement , which advocates radical forms of protest for climate protection .

Live and act

According to his own statements, Mahlhaus only appears under a pseudonym in order to protect himself from criminal prosecution and hateful comments from the Internet. In 2019 she opposed the coal compromise : “Another 20 years of coal power is 20 years of coal power too much. We oppose this, ”says Mahlhaus.

She sees civil disobedience as a legitimate means of advocating the coal exit. For example, after the arrest of activists in Lusatia , she said : “Here people are committed to a future worth living, for which they are simply locked up. New police laws should help them. ”She assumes that the climate crisis can only be overcome with civil disobedience.

Mahlhaus is also committed to feminism . She once said: “We would like gender not to play a role, but we don't live in this world yet.” As an example, she cites the alliance that she represents at the end of the terrain , which in the past had both press officers and press officers. On the basis of a media analysis, it was found that, despite the similar proportions of speeches, the male speaker was quoted significantly more often, so that Ende Ende decided to only employ female press officers. The use of civil disobedience as a form of protest also led to the introduction of women's suffrage.
