Niklas Meinert

Niklas Meinert (born May 1, 1981 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German hockey player who became world champion in 2006 and Olympic champion in 2008.

Niklas Meinert started playing hockey at VfL Bad Kreuznach , where he was trained by his father. In 2000 and 2005 Meinert was German indoor champion with Dürkheimer HC ; In 2001 and 2006 he won the European Champions Cup in the hall. Meinert has also played at Münchner SC , Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and HTC Stuttgarter Kickers . Meinert currently plays for the Mannheimer HC .

In 2003 the defender and midfielder made his debut in the German national hockey team . He won his first international medal in 2005 when he came third at the European Championships. In 2006 Meinert was there when the German team successfully defended the 2002 title at the World Cup in Mönchengladbach. In 2007 he won the World Indoor Championships in Vienna and won the FIH Champions Trophy . 23 August 2008 Niklas Meinert gave the presentation to 1: 0 winning goal in the final of the Olympics in Beijing Christopher Zeller , making the German hockey team the gold medal won. For his sporting success he received the silver bay leaf .
