Niklas Stegmann

Niklas Stegmann (born July 2, 1987 in Essen ) is a German soccer player .

In his youth, the offensive midfielder, called "Stegi", played for Blau-Weiß Mintard and SC Werden-Heidhausen . In 1996 Stegmann went to FC Schalke 04 ; in summer 2005 he switched to MSV Duisburg . In the Zebras, he was initially preferred in the second team, before celebrating his Bundesliga premiere on December 17, 2005 against 1. FSV Mainz 05 (1: 1).

Stegmann, who can also be used as a striker, received a professional contract with MSV on July 1, 2006 . From the 2007/08 season, however, he again belonged exclusively to the team of the second team. In the summer of 2009 Stegmann joined the SSVg Velbert , but only six months later, in January 2010, moved to the reserve of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . After one and a half years with Oberhausen's second team in the Niederrheinliga , he announced his contract with the NRW League club VfB Homberg in the summer of 2011 , before ending his career as an active soccer player at the end of the 2012/13 season.

Private

Stegmann successfully completed his studies in philosophy and chemistry at the Ruhr University Bochum in 2017. Since then he has been employed at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in the “Functional Materials” working group.
