Niklaus von Wattenwyl (* 1492 ; † March 12, 1551 ) was a Swiss provost .

Von Wattenwyl went through the career of a Catholic clergyman and was, among other things, provost in Lausanne and Bern . He corresponded with Huldrych Zwingli and tended more and more to the Reformation , resigned from the clergy in 1525, married and in 1527 bought the dominion of Wil ( Schlosswil with Schloss Wil ). In 1535 he became Bernese Grand Councilor and in 1536 was one of the presidents of the Lausanne disputation . His illuminated prayer book testifies to his important ecclesiastical position in the pre-Reformation period.
