Niko Lortkipanidze ( Georgian ნიკო ლორთქიფანიძე ) (* 17 . Jul / 29. September  1880 greg. In Tschuneschi, Circle Tsqaltubo in an old noble family, † 25. May 1944 in Tbilisi ) was a Georgian writer .

Life

After attending the Vladikavkaz high school, studied mathematics at Kharkov University , but was de-registered for participating in a student demonstration and had to leave the city. He took part in demonstrations in Kutaisi and was arrested again. He then continued his studies at the Leoben Mining Academy in Austria . In 1907 Niko Lortkipanidse finally returned to his homeland, worked as a German teacher and at the same time devoted himself to literary work.

After the establishment of Soviet power, he was chairman of the Association of Artists and until 1937 a member of the Presidium of the Writers' Union .
